Many years ago, on our way home from teaching for a year in South Korea, my husband and I visited India. We had round-the-world plane tickets and stopped off in Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Egypt, Czech Republic and Denmark. Too bad I hadn’t heard of Trollbeads back then, ha! We went to Denmark so we could go to Legoland. 😀

Anyway, India was absolutely overwhelming but incredible. We have never seen such poverty and such riches, with all the colours, sounds and smells one could imagine. Thank goodness we were on a tour. Now we will travel on our own, even going to China independently,  but if we ever were to go back to India I would insist on a tour, as it’s just that daunting.  We did the traditional Golden Triangle with stops in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Here we are at the Taj Mahal. These are photos of my photos as this was before the days of digital photography. 😀

The whole building has this marble inlay, which you don’t really notice until you get right up close to it.

The bracelet I made was inspired by this old pencil box we purchased…

…plus this photo I took in Jaipur. I’ve always wondered where this lady was going. You can see her suitcase off to the side. All the women looked so elegant in their saris in India.

I used the Trollbeads lock Soft Wind of Change because another iconic building in India is the Palace of Winds. They are completely unrelated, just the word ‘wind’ made me think of it. This structure was built in 1799 and is basically a facade, made so women from the royal household could sit behind it unseen to observe street festivals.

The bead that is the star of this bracelet (in my mind, anyway) is the Redbalifrog Ganesha.

Ganesha is a very popular Hindu deity, revered as a remover of obstacles. I love the detail on his trunk.

Look how the feet wrap underneath the bead!

The other beads I wanted to use with an India Inspired bracelet are the Trollbeads River of Life and below it, the Masala Facet

Below left to right are Trollbeads Pumpkin Ornament/ Turquoise Green Dot, Ohm Beads Sky Fire, Trollbeads River  of Life, Ohm Beads My Precious and Live Your Fantasy.

Below left to right after Live Your Fantasy (the barrel shaped, orange Ohm Bead) are a Trollbeads unique, Ohm Beads Ganges, Redbalifrog Ganesha and the Trollbeads Masala Facet.

Below left to right after the Masala Facet are a Trollbeads unique (my very first Trollbead!), Peter and Quiet Flower.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little slice of a trip to India. I’d love to hear if anyone has been there before or if it’s on your list? And are there any beads from here that you like?
