Lately I’ve been using spacers/stoppers as decorative items on bracelets quite a bit, sometimes in place of glass beads. The Bead Stringer tool also arrived the other day so I thought I’d share a couple of uses for it.
A couple of weeks ago, Trollbeads Official shared a photo on Instagram showing how a lighter bracelet could be made up using the spacers to make little sections. It was an instant hit and a few of us made our own versions. This was mine.
I really enjoyed wearing it and loved the feel of the Citrine Facet Tassel swinging around. Next I made up another version, using the Rocky Beach Kit, but added in a couple of the Zodiac Stars in the bare sections so that they could slide around.
For Valentine’s Day coming up I’ll be using the Diamond Bead, Pink with the Connected Love Spacer. Sometimes I like to use three of the plain spacers (stoppers) pushed together on a bangle. So simple, but I agree with the saying that sometimes less is more.
However, here I’ve got quite a few beads as I wanted to try another combo using the new Two Hearts Spacer. I used the whole Native Elements Kit on the chain bracelet and then the glass beads on the bangle are Rainbow Bridge and Wise Bamboo. Rainy days always make these colours really pop.
The next combo uses the Citrine Facet Dangle again but this time on a bangle. At either end of the other bangle are Pink Prisms. I thought I’d give them a try with yellow and white and I think it works.
For the last combo, I used some of the new spacers that came out with the launch of the tiara. On the left is the Royal Spacer Short. In the middle is the Fleur-de-lis Spacer and on the right is the Budding Pearl Spacer. I really like how substantial the Fleur-de-lis Spacer is!
I’m not sure about this look. It’s a bit on the fancy side for me and a bit of a departure from the traditional bracelet. Opinions are always welcome! Here’s how it looks on.
Now for the Bead Stringer. There is a magnifying glass on one end and a tiny hook on the other. I had never heard of these but was quite excited for it as a tool to get spacers on my Fantasy Necklace easily. I always liked the look of spacers/stoppers on the necklace but had a really hard time with it. I know people have purchased items at craft shops to help but I hadn’t tried that yet. With the Bead Stringer, you simply put the spacers on the stringer, then hook it to the necklace and push the spacers along onto the necklace.
Here’s a video of the Bead Stringer in action. It can be used to build a bracelet and then quickly get the beads onto a chain. It’s certainly reasonably priced at $25 USD/ $28.75 and I shall use it a lot for the Fantasy Necklace!
It’s safe to say that I’ve been wearing bangles mostly for the past while, but really like the airy look achieved by leaving the spaces on the chain bracelet. What do you think about using so many spacers instead of regular beads?
Coming up Thursday are more Ohm Beads, specifically, Fireball and Waterfall.
Disclosure: For this blog I may receive some items as promotional samples.
Hi Martha, I do like the look of seperating the beads with extra spacers. And I really like the silver bangle with the three spacers by themselves. On the lighter bracelet do you have the Citrine Facet Tassel hooked up to the lock or am I not seeing correctly? I always love looking at your photos for ideas. Now I just need more beads!

Hi Suzanne! Yes, the tassel is hooked to the lock. It’s a bit fiddly to put on as you don’t want to drop the tassel! Wouldn’t it be fun to just have a big container of spacers and beads to play around with?

Yes, it would be wonderful! Then when you show a design I could just reach into my collection and get what I needed.

I love all of your stylings in these photos. I knew I would need more spacers eventually, so will have to make some choices soon so that I can try out these great ideas. I think the stringer is brilliant. I have something similar from Pandora which I use, but I think the little hook is clever. I wonder if I could use a small crochet hook?
Thank-you again for an inspirational blog post, Martha!

Thanks Sarah! I bet a little crochet hook would work. I must say it was quite fun to make the beads go swoosh back and forth. I can’t wait for the two new spacers in the spring collection. They look just darling!

I see now that I need some decorative spacers! I only have plain in silver and copper. Your first design with the Citrine Facet Tassel dangling from the Carolina Jessamine lock is gorgeous! I also like the Fleur-de-lis spacer and hope to see it at one of the stores I visit that sells Trollbeads or will order online. I have a pretty small wrist, just under 6″, so I also think sometimes that less is more as less seems to fit my wrist better. I often wear just one bead or just enough to go over the top of my wrist. I tend to like tighter and controlled rather than loose and sliding and moving all over the place. It’s all a matter of taste of course and many prefer the looser look and feel. Good we can all have what we like with the same products! Thanks for showing us the Bead Stringer. Interesting!

Dawn, I often wear one bead too, as I like to have time to admire just one at a time. I totally agree that there are just so many ways for us each to customize our jewelry, which makes it just so much fun!

Hi. I know this is like 3 1/2 years later, but do you happen to know the color name of the mauve And citrine colored beads you used on the bracelet with the citrine facet tassel and Carolina Jessamine lock in January 2017? I’ve tried in vain to replicate this gorgeous bracelet

LOL! Yes, years later indeed, but wow, I kind of like this bracelet too and it would be nice in the summer heat! So if you mean the top photo, starting on the left and going clockwise, I see a Gold Silver Trace Bead, Aurora Flower Bead, Sea Anemone Bead and an Amber Violets Bead. Let me know if that helps!

Thank you so much for responding! I should have also asks if the beads move freely on the bracelet or if they are secured in clusters somehow.

Yes, the silver stoppers stay in place, so that the glass beads are held in. So the way it is here, this is how it will be if you wave your arm around.

Which country are you from ? I don’t think these spacers have been imported yet in our country. Like the spacer with the pearl as well as the citrine tassel bead.

Hi! I am in Canada. This article is from 2017 though, so it’s possible these items were retired.
