We decided to go camping for a few nights near Watkins Glen State Park in New York State, staying at a KOA. KOA is a chain of campgrounds that are very family friendly. When we used to go on long car camping trips when the kids were younger it was always our campground of choice as they were reliable for having clean bathrooms, wifi (albeit sometimes iffy!), a pool and organized activities.
On the way down there we stopped to see the eclipse! My son had made a pinhole viewer using a cereal box. We stopped at one of the highway rest stops and it was really fun because other people also had homemade viewers. We gathered around the parking area and chatted. Then I noticed the cool shadows!
The gorge trail was quite fantastic! There were a lot of steps up and down and the rock formations were amazing!
Of course, I took some beads along!
Here’s a shot of the bracelet that I took before leaving home. The lock and stoppers are Redbalifrog and everything else is True Beadz.
Below left to right are a Redbalifrog Log Stopper, True Beadz True Touch Shadow, Alchemy Breeze, True Blossom Shadow, The Wheel of Time and another Treasure.
Below are three Treasures in between two The Wheel of Time beads.
Below left to right after The Wheel of Time are True Taste Shadow, Alchemy Waterfall, True Air Shadow, the Redbalifrog Log Stopper, Dangle True Blossom Shadow and the Redbalifrog Frog Lock.
After lunch we went to the Corning Museum of Glass and oh my goodness, what a place! The building itself and the modern glass area were gorgeous!
Can you see the tree?
This one is called North Sea Waves.
Here’s one last look at the bracelet. Do let me know if you see anything you like or if you’ve been to these places!
I wish I could travel to all the places True Beadz have been to!! Both the nature and the museum look fantastic!

Hi Martha,
I have been to both Watkins Glen and Corning and right at this minute we are about an hour and half away from you in Binghamton NY, dropping our daughter at college! (Can it be that I met you only a month ago? Seems much longer!) The Glass Works is truly amazing and I appreciate glass so much more since I got into beads. Your bracelet is perfect for your trip and I hope you have a good remainder of your vacation here in NY state.

Hi Martha. Beautiful photos….both nature and beads! It is rather amazing to think of how far the True Beadz travel. I’ve been to Corning but it’s been years. One thing I am not is a camper… I did it once tent and all… never again! Roughing it is not for me.

Hi Suzanne, I hear you! We are staying in a cabin but there’s no bathroom. I won’t tent ever again, LOL! The scenery really is incredible though.

Love the photos Martha, those rock formations were incredible. And your choice of beads is fantastic… as always! Did you pick those True Treasures to match beads that you already had, because they all go together so well?

I always love your travel posts, Martha! And your beads are gorgeous! I’ve been to both Watkins Glen and Corning, since they’re an was drive from Rochester and make nice day trips. And the museum gift shop! It’s worth stopping just to see that. I still get a chuckle thinking about my first trip to the Corning Museum, which was with my aunt. We went through the museum first, and the whole time we were saying that we had to remind each other to exercise restraint in the store when we made it down there. And then when we did visit the store, we found that all of the pieces we really liked were verrrry expensive, so we didn’t have to hold each other back after all. We still had a great time looking, even if the only thing we bought was a little Christmas ornament!

Hi Kim! I’m glad you liked the trip down memory lane. The gift shop was so beautiful! I should have bought a Christmas ornament and regret that I didn’t. I’ll wave at you from the highway as we pass by your area tomorrow, ha ha ha!
