*Congratulations to Mandy Louise! Please send your address to marthnickbeads@gmail.com or message me on Instagram or Facebook. Thanks for playing everyone and may we all have a stress free holiday season!*
It turns out that Festivus (you might want to Google it if you’ve never heard of it) is exactly two weeks from now. My family occasionally celebrates it. Here is a photo from my brother’s Instagram that was taken during the Feats of Strength.
So today, to enter the random giveaway for the Good Luck Hand, let’s have an Airing of Grievances. This is going to be tricky and perhaps not make sense for those who are not native English speakers, but for those of us who used to watch Seinfeld, I thought we could have a giggle or two. Now, a proper Airing of Grievances is traditionally about telling people all the ways they have disappointed them over the last year, but perhaps we can be a bit more general about our Grievances. π In other words, what ticks you off?
What ticks me off is a lack of patience and rudeness especially at this time of year, I wish everyone would just chill.

Oh, I agree about the sound of an alarm clock! Especially in the winter when itβs so cold outside in the morning!

What really ticks me off, generally speaking, is People rudeness, let s say At The Postal office, or in a Shop, as People seems having forgotten kindness and this is really annoying me. Sorry if I didnt answer properly, I am Italian and maybe this is not the correct response, But this is What I have understood πππππ

You are correct! During Festivus family members talk about their complaints at the dinner time. Itβs a silly spoof-not meant to be taken seriously. All in good fun!

What ticks me off? Willful ignorance includes many maddening sub-categories, so let’s go with that.

Yes! What drives me nuts is people at Disney World who are walking along and then stop dead in their tracks. Move to the side, people!

Unreliability in general, or being late for anything (I try to be 15 mins ahead to everything), obnoxiousness in general especially with lack of regard for who may be around.
Or really blantant rude remarks especially if they canβt be substantiated with rational thought.
It may be too general for people to understand my dislikes but essentially those cover it!

People who you kinda know ( think kind of an aquantance )who refuse to make eye contact or say hello ( especially the ones you see frequently ) I always think they must act this way because they must be miserable, doesnβt take much to say hello people!

I hate all the hussle everybody makes before Christmas and all this pressure that you have to do this or that. Well, perhaps I’ll be starting doing things after Christmas. I want to use the time to come down a bit and look forward to spending time with family and friends.

At the moment what ticks me off is those students who are 19 and who keep their hats and their coats on, with their bag in front of them on the table, when they are in the classroom for the lesson. And who bitch about this mean teacher who makes them sit properly in class and work.

I always wondered what grade you taught. My husband also teaches high school. In most elementary schools here (grade K-8) kids HAVE to take their hats off. π

The lack of general christmas spirit I guess – everyone is in a rush and busy, but can we at least be polite with each other???

What ticks me off – colleagues who cc the whole world in their email and worse… respond with a thank you to the sender. Geez… We are already very swarmed by many emails at work. Why are people creating more spam emails?

People who just push their way through. It happens in the grocery line, in traffic, everywhere. Like they are the only ones who need to be taken care of and it has to be right now. Equal to that are people who think they are so important that they must be on their cellphone no matter what’s happening around them. Rudeness is the overall theme here, I guess.

What ticks me off is people’s impatience in cars. I was trying to reverse out of a parking space the other day and two people shot behind me then bibbed at me. They could see I was already reversing why not wait a few seconds!

What disheartens me is a general lack of empathy. We seem to be going through a moment where people will demand that their specific pain be recognized whilst willfully invalidating the pain that’s felt by others. Our unique life experiences all leave us with our own unique scars. It is important to speak out; it is equally important to listen.

For me it would be, people who are negative about everything. The rise of negativity is disheartening and much of it is mean spirited or ridiculous. The lack of empathy ties into the negativity.
On a lighter side, I hate autocorrect that happens after you send something. It can be hilarious but awkward.
Happy Holidays and Festivus!

Well, the initial grievance I posted is the ongoing feud between two of the most important people in my life. But as that post was lost while I tried to figure out logging into this stupid site (WordPress, not you Martha) we can add that to my list.

I’m ticked off about the lack of help I get during the month of December when I’m the one hosting our son’s birthday party, my birthday dinner, my in-laws birthday, Christmas Eve and day. Come on people! Don’t offer to help if you don’t actually intend to help. And it doesn’t help me one bit if you’re giving me grief about making too much food. And standing behind me trying to make small talk while I’m preparing the food isn’t helpful either.
