Saturday, June 9th will be Trollbeads Day for 2018. My friend Trisha and I will be taking a road trip to the USA to visit a new Trollbeads Store, at The Mall of Partridge Creek. We are looking forward to seeing lots of beads! She has plans to buy the gorgeous Daisy and my plan is to check out pink pearls.
This year’s bead is called Wings of Amber. I hear that the long time Trollies are quite excited at this release.
Amber is said to be the gold of the North. 50 million years it has been underway and what we see is a specific moment in time. A ray of sunlight caught in a piece of amber. On this precious bead, a little insect is having a rest.
This bead is a Limited Edition. The year 2018 is stamped onto the core.
Last year’s Trollbeads Day bead was the gorgeous Golden Rutilated Quartz, shown below in the middle. This year’s bead is not as expensive and I’ll add in the price when I get it. There are beads with one silver insect ($75 USD) and beads with two ($115 USD) and a kit of 10 for $750 USD, which has 9 beads with one insect each and one bead with two insects. The amber varies in colour, of course. I’m quite partial to the maple syrup coloured one second from the right.
First I tried out a bracelet using some pink beads and this is my favourite look. I think the Golden Cave below in the middle looks amazing with the amber, as it complements the organic feel.
Next I made up a bracelet using some of the Native Elements Kit and I also like how this turned out.

Well, I don’t know about getting to a TB store that day, as I have a mineral swap, but I do like this bead. It’s the first TBD bead I’ve liked in a while, so I do hope to get one.

I love amber, so I’m very excited by this bead. You have a great selection with a lot of very pretty amber. I’m rather partial to the gold one with the sparkles and the “dirty” one. I’ll definitely plan on getting at least one of these. My one remaining local dealer has majorly cut back, and I doubt they’re having an event, so I’ll probably have to shop online. Amber is something that needs to be picked either in person or from good photos, so we’ll see what’s out there. Have fun at your event!

I imagine quite a few retailers will be posting live images, as most people would want to know if they are getting a pale yellow one, or dark one, etc. I definitely see the appeal of amber. I remember a few years ago when we were in Estonia there were piles of amber beads in the shops. I should have bought one as a souvenir. I hope you can pick out something you like from these new ones!

Oh, I’m sure I will be able to find something I like, yes indeed. 😉 When I was scrolling down my photos on Instagram the other day I noticed that it was pretty amber-heavy, so you can definitely see I’m partial!

I just went and looked at your photos and somehow I missed seeing the last couple. You definitely have an amazing collection of amber beads! You’ve inspired me to try putting these with some turquoise coloured beads. 😍

It’s very cool! I *love* it with the Native Elements beads (my all-time favorite kit)–this has a real late-summer vibe. Very harvest-y.
And I think these will be easier to pick than last year’s Golden Rutilated Quartz. It was quite hard to get a visual read on those.

Ooo-I like your idea of the Native Elements combo for late summer. The kit always makes me think of leaves changing colour. I think you’re right about this year’s bead being easier to pick out online. These ones are pretty uniform in size and shape so it’s just the colour and inclusions that are different.

Hi Martha! I love the maple syrup colored one and the yellow one on your bangle. I have a silver bead called Bee on Hive that might go well with these. On a side note….will Cheez-Its be a part of your trip?

Hi Suzanne! Yes, Cheez-Its are actually a major reason for the trip! We each haven’t been to the States for quite a while and love to go to Meijers store and see things we can’t buy in Canada. I’m so excited! Work has been super busy-am putting on a concert with 300 kids on Wednesday, report cards are due in a couple of weeks and I’m taking a course which is eating up almost 2 hours a night. On Saturday we will hit a Starbucks and head out on the highway for a day of fun!

all your bracelets look great!……….but the bead budget will only go to a couple of these amber bees ,maybe 3 tops! wish the pricing was a little lower as 5 or more looks wonderful
