On Friday, May 24 the Trollbeads Summer Collection for 2019 will debut. For the most part, this feels like a bit of a departure for Trollbeads, as there are five new stones coming out but they are really very small. With their round shape they feel quite modern and it will be interesting to see how people use them. There are also two silver beads that blend in nicely with last year’s seashell silver beads.
The round stones each cost $50 USD. There is a White Round Moonstone, Round Labradorite, Round Lapis Lazuli, Round Adventurine and Round Malachite. I bought several silver Ripples beads because I thought they would go really well with the new stones. The silver bead that wraps around the Round Lapis Lazuli below is called Framed by the Sea and is $50.
There is a small silver pendant, designed by Søren Nielsen, called Conch Pendant. It will be $61 USD.
I wanted to take a few shots of the gemstones on a bracelet with the traditional sized glass beads. I would love to hear if you think the older beads look ridiculously out of place, or if you think they might work well together.
Where I don’t think a traditional style glass bead looks silly is below, almost acting as a focal point. The spring collection glass beads were on the whole very small, which now makes me wonder if there is a general move towards smaller beads. 🤔
I also think the Beach and Light Blue Stripe Beads below look okay with the Round Adventurine beads.
This is the last known place where one of the Round White Moonstones was seen. If anyone is heading to the beach at Port Stanley, ON, look around and you might find one!
Since the new gemstones are small like pearls, I think they look very sweet between the Dancing Butterfly Spacers.
Here’s a macro shot of the Round Lapis Lazuli. It’s pretty spectacular!
I think the new beads work really well on bangles and they will be fun to mix and match.
Lastly, since I know some people will be buying these to use with the discontinued Pandora Essence line, here is a reference photo so you can see they work very well together.
Here’s a last look at the bangle set to get us in the summer mood. It was about 9C when I took these photos, not exactly swimming weather!
That’s it for today! Do let me know if you’ll be adding any of these to your collection or if it’s not your thing. I think they will be fun to play around with and certainly they will be lovely for petite wrists (that’s not me!). They will look great on leather and Fantasy Necklaces as well. When the retailers start to show live images we’ll be able to find out if all of the Round Adventurines are darker than the stock images, as I was a bit surprised at the colouring of mine. I do like the look of smaller beads like these, especially for the summer. Really, just one of these on a bangle would be wonderful!
Disclosure: For this blog post I may receive some items as promotional samples. These are courtesy of Trollbeads USA.
I was not so patiently waiting for your review. Will the Framed by the Sea fit around a regular glass bead or just the round gems and pearls? I like the look of the round beads flanking the glass. It makes a nice gradual taper to the stoppers. So, the price of $50 reflects the 10% increase taking place this June? I saw that they were to be $45. I would hate for them to become $55 after June 1st. Sorry to hear that you lost a bead to the beach.

So, I just tried and a smallish glass bead will technically fit inside Framed by the Sea, but then it gets kind of stuck when I try to move it up on a bangle and it doesn’t look very good, to be honest. I also tried with a Prism and same thing. It definitely is made for the round stones and pearls. If you are on Instagram I made a video to demonstrate this in my IG Story.
I haven’t been told anything about the price increase, but I believe the original price for the new stones was $45, then changed to $50. So I would think that is the final price, but again, I have no actual knowledge to base this on!

Thank you so much for taking the time to try other beads with it. I just watched your IG story. I though for sure a prism would work as well. I am grateful that you tried it. While the stones are beautiful, it was this piece that intrigued me the most.

It is definitely a delightful piece! Some people might like it on a Prism, but I found it to be awkward fitting. Some Prisms might be a tad smaller, too, so might work better. Fortunately it’s not a terribly expensive piece, so if it only works with a couple of things I think it’s okay. I imagine it will look gorgeous with a Peacock Pearl!

Thank you Martha! Your pics are so inspiring! I love tiny beads so these round pearls will be perfect in my combos, especially in a bangle I think 🙂 I will get Lapis Lazuli and Adventurine for my sea bracelet and also Framed by the sea…it has a peculiar shape…
For Europe prices increased last year and I really hope that’s all 😓
Have a nice week 🥰

I really like this new collection , especially Framed by the Sea. It’s a wonderful piece of art as jewellery! The smaller stones are very beautiful and more affordable than the larger, faceted natural stone beads. I think I would choose one favourite stone and the silver Framed by the Sea and use it as my focal piece in combination with other regular sized beads.
I enjoyed your moody, cold beach photos to highlight the natural stones. It’s agony waiting for the lake to warm and the sun to shine as it did yesterday, but beads are a lovely distraction to pass the time.
Enjoy your Holiday Monday Martha, and thanks for the beautiful introduction to the new collection!

Hi Sarah! That’s a good point about the smaller stones being more affordable than the larger ones. Happy Victoria Day, Sarah! I was trying to explain to my little refugee students that there would be no school today because we are celebrating a dead queen’s birthday. LOL!!

That sums it all up nicely. Going out to celebrate the sunshine now, never mind the dead queen!

Is there a store near you? I can’t remember. 🤔

Yes, relatively near me. It’s in Norwich which is the county town of Norfolk. It takes me about an hour from Ipswich. There are lots of lovely shops in Norwich, so it’s a good shopping trip 😁

Beautiful pics Martha, as usual. The beads look great with Essence. So is it true that Essence is being discontinued? I had heard rumors but didn’t know for sure. Thank you!

Hi Holly! I’m afraid I don’t know for sure about Essence but it seems to be on its way out. The Canadian e-store has most of it either discounted or out of stock. 😕
