Ohm Beads is doing lots of giveaways during the month of April. Today, I’d like to host a giveaway for an Orchid Rain bead. To enter, just tell us how are you doing. Really, that’s it. These are unprecedented times we’re living in. How are you doing these days?
For an added entry, post something pink on Instagram or my Facebook page with the hashtag #ohmpink.
This will stay open for about 24 hours. Tomorrow at around 7:00am EDT, I’ll assign numbers to everyone and then use the random number generator to choose a winner.
I do hope everyone is well! I know several of our bead friends are healthcare or personal support workers and I’d like to thank them for doing what must be an incredibly difficult job.

I m #stayinghome in these quarantene days, doing smart working, cooking, bead playing. I love staying at home, and though this is a difficult time for the whole planet, I m trying to stay positive, have good vibes, have a cuddling time with my dogs, watching my fav series , enjoy what I have.
Time is now, life is now. Keep living, keep smiling. And love!

Hi! You said tell you how we are doing so I wanted to say..not good! I am scared. I have been trying my best to be positive but that stopped a couple of days ago. I try to keep myself busy, but I just think about how the world is hurting from this virus to fires and just the way people treat each other. I wish I could make it a better place. I hear everyone say “ I have money but I can’t find food” and it makes me want to cry! I don’t have the money and it scares me. I pray that all gets better! I pray hard!! I am sorry for being down. Please forgive me! It’s just the way I feel. Thank you for the giveaway! That is very sweet of you!

Thank you for hosting this giveaway! I’m living in Belgium, and working from home since the 11th of March. I am happy I can still do my job (in an altered version) but I miss being around my colleagues. I try my very best to do everything the government and the scientists ask from us right now but I never had to miss my family before and I find it pretty hard.
If I should win, I would like you to send the bead to someone who works in Healthcare.

I’m doing great! In Malaysia, we hv Movement Control Order.. where citizens can still go out. But only 8am-8pm. And only one person can be in the car 🥺
A lot of things to get use to like cooking more at home, working from home (distraction, distraction and distraction LOL) and travel restrictions.
But I feel it’s ok to stay home at the moment in order for this virus to disappear. Or at least to flatten up the curve.
Hope you and your family are doing great Martha.
Stay safe ❤️

Dear Lauren, I thank my pharmacists every time I pick up my medications, particularly my Symbicort which is so essential to my survival. I know that the situation in the USA is dire and likely to worsen. You’re understandably worried about the safety of yourself and your family. I acknowledge the risk that front-line workers such as yourself are taking on behalf of humanity and thank you. ❤️

I’m hanging in there. I survived some massive job cuts at the hotel I work for, which is good, but it was devastating having to say goodbye to so many friends who’ve become more like family to me over the years. We’re one of the few hotels still open, and only because we function as emergency shelter and temporary housing for first responders who are commuting great distances or isolating away from high-risk housemates. My night shift allows me the luxury of a walk home after curfew, through streets so empty the ambulances don’t even have to turn on their sirens. It’s surreal.

This is such a beautiful bead and I like this challenge. Anything which encourages us to focus on positives as opposed to anxiety and fear is a balm.
I have never had this much time at home, to spend reading, sewing, making cotton masks, for friends and family, sewing, beading and quilting and I find it comforting and therapeutic.
As a family, my siblings and our families are chatting daily, sharing favourite songs, photos of our daily walks, activities , pets, meals, recipes., etc. We are filled with long neglected love and admiration for each other.
I know you are still working, and have a young family to be brave for. I wish you strength, peace and good health, Martha.

Hello! Greetings from Malaysia. We are also currently being ordered to stay at home during this period by the government. I am staying with my elderly parents who both are working in the healthcare department. Although I am at home, it’s a pity that I couldn’t spend much time with them, we try to isolate from each other as much as possible and practice social distancing in fear of spreading the virus. Time at home gives me plenty of time to reflect and relax, and a time to slow down from my usual busy work schedule (and play with beads!) It’s amazing that OHM beads is hosting giveaway this month and giving an opportunity for this wonderful community to interact. I pray a lot at home, especially during this Holy Week, hoping that this pandemic will come to an end soon so that we can all spend more quality time with our dear friends and family! Sending my thoughts and love to you and your family too, Martha!

I already work from home, so it’s not as big of a change for me as it is for others. We are so incredibly lucky! But the truth is, my anxiety is through the roof. I miss my mom, I miss hanging out with my best friend and I started crying the other day for no reason. I never realized how much “going” I do in a week- taking kids to dance or music lessons, running to the store for one or two things, doing a quick store visit for work, etc. I always complained about it and now I wish we could go to dance! I miss my dance mom friends so much! I’m not sure I’ll ever look at those things the same way ever again.

At home I get distracted by cooking, reading, playing with my old dog, my partner. yes it is about groups, it communicates from all over the world also thanks to our common interests. I had to stay home for 10 days after waking up one morning with a bit of a sore throat – which was gone the next day. Staying in and having to cook for myself got old pretty fast! Plus all the good snacks were gone by day three and I had to get creative! Our weather has still been quite wintery so staying inside hasn’t been too much of a hardship.
But now I’m back to work and life is just as busy as it normally is. I’m staying home more so I’ve dusted off my treadmill and am trying to be a runner again. Tomorrow is my birthday – my family is going to eat cake with me while on an online video chat instead of getting together. That might be our new way of gathering together for a while.

We are all just trying to do the best we can with what we have! I’m trying to my best to keep my cool, not lose patience and extend grace to myself and everyone. I’m worried about our residents, they are so fragile. This virus has taken some of them from us and my heart just breaks, knowing their families weren’t able to be with them. I worry about my coworkers, their families, my family. We all have loved ones who are susceptible to this illness. I’m praying each and every night for our world, that this will soon be over and we can all live our lives and not be so scared.
I am learning to appreciate the small things…. calling my mom every day, spending time with my husband (even if it’s just to watch tv or sleep), spending time at home not doing much aka Self Care! I’m still enjoying all my beads and bead friends of course!

I’m home, safe with my family and I’m ok. My introverted nature doesn’t mind the changes (when it wasn’t something I wasn’t already doing anyway, hermit that I am 😅) but I definitely have moments most days, when the uncertainty or gravity of the numbers or the struggles of too many across the globe really sinks in, where I become completely overwhelmed. But it does pass, usually with the help of a good cry or a cuddle from my dog or a silly, wonderful, distracting activity like #OHMinApril.
I think we’re all kinda riding on this anxious edge of emotion and there’s some strange beauty in knowing that it’s shared and that we are not alone in this. Maybe we’re more together than ever. Thank you, Martha! My heart is with you and to everyone out there: stay safe 💕

Hi Martha!
Thank you for the giveaway and for asking us to share how we’re doing!
I’m doing quite well. My brother did get very sick with corona symptoms, but as almost no one in my country gets tested we can’t be sure. My family went into self-quarantine, but I still have to go to my job everyday.
The upside is that I actually still have a job, and with all meetings cancelled I don’t have to do so much overtime anymore. Which left me with some time to try and take up jogging. Unfortunately my legs didn’t really agree with me and almost 3 weeks later my ankles still give me a lot of trouble. I did buy better shoes so as soon as my ankles stop hurting I will give it another go.
And how are you doing?

Deep in the heart of Texas here, all is well for the most part. I am a homebody by nature so it hasn’t been hard for me to stay put. My husband is the same. When all of this started, my 24 year old daughter who lives with us was going stir crazy. This week, however, she is texting her friends LESS, and is using the phone instead…YAY! – much better method of communication when you can hear the voice of your friends! Now we are all going for nature hikes. I find myself praying for the safety of all health personnels, victims of the virus and any other illness, those who have passed, and their families. Not to mention all of the people in other countries that are experiencing the same. I also pray for everyone who has had to close their small business and who has lost their job, and all those who do not know if they’ll have a job when this is over. Lots of good shall come out of this too! Stay strong & safe everyone! XOXO

I especially miss seeing the Koalas ! Yesterday I did have a little crying episode, but today Cleveland Metroparks Zoo had an online education program about the Koalas so that was great to see !

I’m working from home, and have been for the last three weeks. I live in Michigan, and we’re in the top three states with the number of cases. This has been surreal. Hi Martha,
Thank you for doing a giveaway. Everyone can use a happy diversion. I am doing pretty well. I wasn’t working this semester because I am an adjunct and my class didn’t make. I was bummed about that until the pandemic really took hold. Now we are just waiting to find out if my husband will be furloughed from his job or not. So like many others, we are staying home and watching our money carefully. I hope everyone stays safe and well.

Hi Martha,
I am doing ok. I see posts, stories, and the hard work of all of the nurses, doctors, CNAs, hospital janitors, etc. (Anyone who works in a hospital) and I feel for them. I feel guilty as well because these people put literally their lives on the line every day for others. My company has also recently been discussing changes they are making due to loss of income and it is scary. I hope these times end soon and we make it out stronger and better, but I think ultimately it will take lots of time and work to get back to where we were.
Thanks to you and Ohm hosting these giveaways, discussions and open forums.

I’m staying home with my husband and two kids. I never know how the day is going to be, if a nice or stressful one. Sometimes it is great to be quiet, I cook something nice, we play board games or watch a movie together, homeschooling runs smoothly, the house cleaning end up being pleasent and I manage to focus on my work. Other days all the news from the world seem to loud to bear. Boredom takes the lead, everyone is irritated. Homeschooling and housework seem endless and I’m unable to focus or find purpose on anything I do. There is one thing that has been stable throughout these days: I’m aware of how lucky I am to even have the chance to stay home with the ones I love the most, not having to worry rather I’m loosing my job or not. These times have been overwhelming and I am giving up on trying to figure out man kind (all the politics in the crisis just make everything more devastating). Instead, I’ve been trying to figure out my own limits, my own paradoxes… and how I can make things work on my own little kingdom.

Starting the fourth week of working at home – I’m somewhat introverted, so it’s not a huge change, although I’m very easily distracted. My children are adults but haven’t left home yet, so that’s a worry relieved. My spouse is disabled and a higher-risk, so I’m doing all the grocery shopping, although for the county north of us they’ve recommended not even going out for groceries for the coming week – I hope we have enough. Doing my best to keep as positive as possible – started playing Pokemon Go again, watching shows with the kids, trying to keep spouse cheered up. I am doing ok! I already work from home for an industry that is considered critical so the hours are now even longer and the stress is even more real. I am exhausted at the end of the day and then make a late dinner for my family. It is very difficult to wrangle the kids to continue learning. I worry more for my sisters and their husbands who are in the front lines treating COVID patients with homemade masks and little protective wear. My brother in law just shaved his hair so that he can clean his head and face with hand sanitizer when he leaves a COVID patients room as he is not provided a protective gown or head coverage and is using a homemade mask. We won’t even talk about what they all do to get out of scrubs before they can enter their homes. That is crazy to have to be exposed like that working in a hospital but they do the best they can:(. So, I count my blessings and have had the honor of caring for our high risk parents so I can give them peace of mind to focus on saving lives as they risk their own. True courage is putting your life at risk for others. I love OHM and the joy they bring to the world! Everyone stay safe and healthy and respect social distancing and wearing masks to slow down the spread and to respect our first responders. God bless them all!

It’s such a strange and surreal time that we’re experiencing! It feels like a movie most of the time. I’m lucky because, even if I’ve not seen my parents since the 9th of March, I know they’re well and that they take care of themselves. Unfortunately many elderly died, so our fears are mainly directed at them. I have a garden and a house to clean, and a husband to cook for, so my days are filled with many little things to do. I hope it ends soon, but not because I don’t like staying at home, but because the thought of many people dying alone is unbearable.

I’ve been stuck at home for the past few weeks, working from home at the moment. I guess it’s not that bad since I have my Facebook friends and I’m more introverted anyway. I also spent 8 years stuck at home due to my chronic health issues in the past so one could say I’m used to isolation. The hardest thing is chronic fatigue that I’ve been battling for years and it prevents me from doing much so I spend lots of time on internet and cuddling with my dogs. I also need to feed my bead addiction at least once in a while so getting any new bead mail would really cheer me up 🙂
I hope you are all well and healthy!!!

Hello bead friends!
Thank you Ohm and @mathnickbeads.com for this challenge day.
As a healthcare worker, I am feeling worried yet optimistic and thankful.
Worried for my patients as I try to help them with supporting their breathing. Worried for my coworkers as I try to do it without exposing them or myself to this sickness. Worried that I might bring it home to my family.
Yet optimistic as we work as a team to practice safe airway drills and patient care, develop plans for preserving precious PPE resources and flattening the curve.
Mostly though, I am thankful. Thankful that my family is safe and well. Thankful that I haven’t lost my job and can support them. Thankful that despite these challenges, I see kindness everyday.

How am I doing today? How are you doing today? Today has been another trying day for me to be honest, my brother-in-law has been missing for 14 days and we are desperate to find him or any information on where we he is.
As for my in-home quarantine (stayathome), I’m already used to being homebound, I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, so being homebound is my norm, and I’m fortunate that I’ve gotten used to it and I’ve found ways to live happily with the limitations I have. In fact they don’t even feel like limitations anymore, it is just another day for me. Another difficulty that I’ve been facing, is I’m a registered nurse, and I had to leave my hospital career back and 2016 due my rheumatoid arthritis. Only another nurse, medical professional, civil servant, etc. could understand how frustrating it is not to be able to be out there to help all the wonderful people that are facing COVID-19 everyday. So everyday I pray that some miracle will get me back to work again as a nurse, even if just temporarily, just to help. I pray everyday that my brother-in-law comes home, he is so dearly missed, His four-year-old son especially need some back home! Where ever you are Barry, we are praying for you! That’s honestly how I’m feeling today….
I am sorry if I sound down, I just have alot on my plate as I’m sure many other people do as well

Hello,
I live in Florida and we’ve been home practicing social distancing since March 20th. My son was in the hospital for a few nights and I wasn’t allowed to stay with him or even go into the hospital for a visit. He has sickle cell anemia and was having a really bad pain crisis that required hospitalization. It broke my heart not being with him but thankfully he’s home now, after testing negative for Corona virus. I’ve been working on my bead log/inventory list and filling in a few gaps here and there. I think it’s important to have it as a personal touch to my collection and a way for my children to know exactly what I’m leaving behind. The pandemic has me hoping for the best but preparing for the worst! Oh yeah, I don’t think I have any pink beads so my #OHMPINK post might be four legged friend related! lol
God Bless you all,
