Outside it is cold and dark. Nothing is in the sphere but a light touch of magic. Light can always be found in the darkness – and the darkest night shows the brightest stars.
Today I have a selection of pieces from the Trollbeads Winter Collection, 2020. It will be available on Friday, November 6. Right away, for me, the star of the show is the Faceted Blue Goldstone. It’s not a stone, but is glass and there are so many sparkles. It makes me think of a far away galaxy and would easily fit in with any space themed bracelet. Designed by Lise Aagaard, it costs $61 USD/ $74 CAD.

It looks great with the new ring, which is called Lucky Stars Fantasy Ring. Designed by Louise Rimpler, it is incredibly comfortable and costs $127 USD/ $150 CAD.

Keeping with the stars theme, there is a silver bead called Lucky Star $39 USD/ $45 CAD and a lock called Lucky Stars Lock at $72 USD/ $86 CAD. The lock is reminiscent of the one from the Wishful Sky bracelet from a few years ago, but this one is smooth and sleek. I think this one might become a new favourite for some people.

Another favourite of mine from this collection is the Framed by Stars. Again, it is very sleek and comfortable to wear. It’s also reasonably priced at $50 USD/ $61 CAD. I like it just on a bangle with one bead.

It looks gorgeous with the Faceted Blue Goldstone.

The new glass kit is called Bubble Joy Kit and is designed by Tenzin Phuntsok and Kalden Chophet. The kit costs $195 USD/ $224 CAD and purchased separately, the beads are $39 USD/ $45 CAD. These are the kind of beads which are so easy to wear with other beads, especially Uniques, which tend to be more intricate. Below left to right are Scarlet Bubble Joy, Shimmer Bubble Joy, Midnight Bubble Joy, Frosty Bubble Joy, Sienna Bubble Joy and Misty Bubble Joy.

Sienna Bubble Joy is the perfect bead to go with Golden Cave (third from the left).

At first I didn’t think much of Misty Bubble Joy, but then I put it with some grey tones and wow, I love it!

Shimmer Bubble Joy has a lot of fine glitter in it.

I think it pairs nicely with the Faceted Blue Goldstone.

I tried out a white/blue/orange bracelet which is a colour scheme I really like.

There are some new zodiac stars and Trollbeads sent me the Sagittarius Star, as I was born in November. Each zodiac star is $50 USD/ $61 USD.
First let’s compare the new stars to the recent ones. I don’t have the oldest ones, sorry.

That’s it for today! I’d love to hear what you think of this collection. I feel like some of the pieces are updated versions of older ones and I like these ones more. The lock has no pointy bits and is going to be a great every day kind of lock as it’s very wearable. The Sienna Bubble Joy is so rich and gives me a cozy feeling just looking at it. I’m going to buy one so I can have a pair to go with the Golden Cave. I am picturing a bangle with Golden Cave in the middle, flanked by two Rose Quartz beads and then two Sienna Bubble Joys. Anyway, I’d love to hear from you. Have a good Monday!
Very elegant! I always wonder how far in advance bead companies plan their Christmas releases. This doesn’t strike me as overly Christmassy, and I wonder if Trollbeads decided to tone it done a little because of the Voldevirus. They wisely try to switch it up from year to year, and maybe this was simply the less flashy year anyway.
Suffice it to say, these will all add something pretty and sparkly to anyone’s designs. I’m leaning towards the Faceted Blue Goldstone, and the Shimmer, Midnight, and Sienna Bubbly Joys. Which are predictable choices for me. As a bonus, these are colors I’ll be using on my Black Watch Plaid Christmas tree this year. Yay! Hoping to be able to get some good pictures with these new beads.

Samantha, that’s a good question about when beads are designed. I would have no idea. For me, if anything, I’m going to kick it up a notch this Christmas. We usually go to Disney World for Christmas but that’s not happening this year. I’m looking forward to decorating the house and doing some Christmas baking. I’d love to see some pictures of your Black Watch Plaid tree!

I really like the midnight bubble joy, and also I like the look of the new stars.

Sarah, I like how the new stars are fairly big and smooth. A star on a Fantasy Necklace would look lovely. I’m still wearing a hand sanitizer lanyard these days 🙄, otherwise I’d try it.

I’m really surprised that the Faceted Blue Goldstone is a glass bead and not a stone one! It looks great!

April, it really doesn’t look like glass at all, I agree! I’m looking forward to seeing live pictures of the brownish one.

Thanks so much for your review! Your photos of the various pieces are more enticing and show to better advantage the winter offerings than Trollbead’s stock photos that I have seen on another blog. That is especially true of the ring and the other star pieces.

Thanks for your kind words, Pat. It’s nice to get a chance to see and feel the pieces in person. Sometimes it’s hard to gauge the size of beads from photos, so I’m always delighted when Trollbeads gives me the opportunity to get to play with them.

Delightful as usual! Thanks for posting Martha. Happy birthday whenever it is! The birthday star is lovely and I too was born under this sign (early December). Where can I buy the star? Judy

Thanks Martha. Let’s hope we can both celebrate despite ‘ Madame Corona’. I will try to order the star bead online as the only Trollbeads dealer in Israel has a very limited stock from about 3 years ago and doesn’t appear to have any new items.🙄😢🙄

Ah, yes, online would definitely be the way to go! Best wishes for the new year for us all!

Hi Martha
I love the bead combinations you use in your posts and have a question.
I started with Trollbeads years ago and then sidetracked to Pandora and Chamilia.
Your posts have inspired me to go back to my Trollbeads. Can you please recommend what would be a few good staple beads to add to my collection? (from any brand that fits on troll bracelets). Thanks in advance!

Hi Karen! That’s a very interesting question. My taste runs towards traditional Scandinavian designs, so I like anything designed by Kim Buck. I also think that the gemstones go easily with any charms you might have. You could always browse through my old blog posts to see if anything catches your eye!

Thanks for the great review Martha. Can you give me some advice for the sizing of the Lucky Stars Fantasy ring?

My pleasure, Dani. I find the ring fits true to size. I wear a 55 in Pandora and Trollbeads rings and this one fits perfectly.

Thank you Martha! So I don’t need to size up for extra room for the bead?

I’m 99.9 percent sure you don’t. I keep my ring size written down on my phone in case I’m ever shopping and can’t remember my size. So I’m just a 55 all the time, no matter the ring. 🤔

Perfect, thank you again!

The ring runs small. I ordered a 9 1/4, it was tight. I took it to the jeweler and had it sized, tight 9 it was. I know someone else who had the same problem. Their sizing is off.

Thanks Carol! I’ve decided to wait to buy it until I can try it on in person, so unfortunately it will be some time from now.

Great article Martha! I wasn’t a huge fan of the fall collection, but this one I loved! You are so right, I think the bubble beads will compliment so many other beads in my collection. Enjoy & Merry Christmas!!!♥️☃️💚

Thanks Lynda! Yes, the bubble beads are going to be very useful indeed. I bought two more of the grey ones and can’t wait to put them with some labs and grey moonstones.
